애플 - 2023년 WWDC(6월)에서 새로운 헤드셋 공개할 예정!

The headset, which is still unnamed, is allegedly nearing its big unveiling, which is said to take place in June 2023, or around when the company traditionally holds its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

MS의 Altasapce 가 서비스를 종료합니다.

Microsoft bought the social VR startup in 2017after it ran out of money, but the service found a small niche with some creators using its tools for meeting and presentation spaces. Austin “Cause” Caine and Christi Fenison, the duo behind a company called Cause & Christi, have used AltspaceVR for client projects over the years and found it “to be the most ‘professional’ out of the current choices.” The were present for the final moments of AltspaceVR and conveyed the experiencein writing and video:

 

Walkabout minigolf 가 iPhone 유저들과 크로스 플레이를 지원

Walkabout Mini Golf: Pocket Edition is planned for launch in Q2 of 2023 on iPhones first this summer. The game turns the phone itself into a kind of AR putter and features full cross-play against Walkabout players on Quest, Steam VR, PSVR 2, Pico, and HTC Viveport.

Onward 의 CEO가 물러난다고 합니다.

메타에 인수된지 2년만에 물러나게 되었다고 해요.

Dante Buckley wrote in a note on Facebook, confirmed by UploadVR, that his departure is “by choice” and not in a layoff. Buckley is the creator of one of VR’s leading team-based shooters Onward. In April 2021, Meta announced it had acquired Downpour and its entire team.

It’s been an honor and a privilege to work on Onward with my team and give our players something to enjoy. There’s been plenty of battle scars, mistakes, lessons, and wins over the years.

Another big thing I learned was the difference between a large corporate company vs a small startup, and the pros and cons of each. Some things work better in certain environments.

Meta Quest 가 unreal engine 5 를 지원합니다.

OpenXR is the only VR API supported by Meta in UE5.

• UE5 doesn’t include support for hardware geometry tessellation. Nanite is the intended substitute for this functionality—however, Nanite is not available on Meta Quest.

• The Unreal Lightmass tool is no longer built by default because Unreal’s default workflow now uses Lumen. Therefore, you must build the Lightmass project manually if your project uses baked lights.

• The first Meta Quest is not supported. However, Meta plans to provide an upgrade path for developers.
